The castle gates are stirring again — and the rumours swirling around The Celebrity Traitors Series 2 are darker, louder and far juicier than anything fans heard last year.
After Alan Carr’s shock victory in the first celebrity edition, bookmakers have dropped their early predictions, while insiders reveal the BBC is quietly assembling the most explosive cast the franchise has ever seen. What started as harmless speculation has now erupted into full-blown chaos, with leaked “wish lists” sending reality-TV fandom into a frenzy.
With more than 14 million viewers making it the BBC’s biggest unscripted hit since 2021, the series’ return was inevitable. Now negotiations are underway, and the battle to secure top-tier talent is heating up.
According to gaming platform Slingo, documentary legend Louis Theroux leads the pack with 6/5 odds (45.5%), touted as a “future master strategist.” Right behind him is EastEnders icon Danny Dyer at 2/1 (33.3%), viewed as the unpredictable wildcard capable of detonating alliances the second he walks through the castle portcullis.
Richard Ayoade follows at 5/2 (28.6%), with Countdown star Rachel Riley (3/1) and comedian Katherine Ryan (7/2) also ranking highly.
Even Piers Morgan sits at 11/1 — and while insiders admit it’s unlikely, they also warn his casting would “break the internet overnight.”
A spokesperson for Slingo explained:
“Louis brings intellect and calm — perfect for the game. Danny Dyer would be pure chaos. He’d light the castle on fire, metaphorically speaking.”
But this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Last season’s cast — including Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns, Charlotte Church, Tom Daley, Clare Balding, Paloma Faith, Stephen Fry and Kate Garraway — set an incredibly high bar. Alan’s emotional final confession, saying the guilt was “tearing [him] apart,” pushed the finale to 11 million viewers.
Excitement around Series 2 skyrocketed again after the BBC’s Economic Impact Report revealed the franchise generated £21.8 million for Scotland thanks to filming at Ardross Castle. A production insider summed it up perfectly:
“This isn’t just a TV show anymore — it’s an empire.”
And that empire is attracting some massive names.
Danny Dyer has openly admitted he regrets turning down Season 1, teasing:
“If the money’s right, I might be tempted now.”
Martin Lewis confessed to major regret after declining due to scheduling conflicts.
Courteney Cox — close friend of host Claudia Winkleman — remains a dream candidate after appearing in a promo last year.
Rylan Clark says he’d join “in a heartbeat,” even while joking he’d be a terrible Traitor.
Strictly icon Shirley Ballas, JLS star JB Gill, and Radio 2 host Scott Mills have all shown interest.
Now two unexpected names are shaking up the prediction lists:
Stacey Solomon — producers believe she could be either the most beloved Faithful… or the deadliest Traitor the game has ever seen. Kate Garraway — whose resilience and sharp instincts on past shows have reportedly placed her under “serious consideration” by the BBC.
Gavin & Stacey favourite Ruth Jones is said to be in advanced talks but insists she’d only take part as a Faithful.
Producers still have their hearts set on comedy icon Bob Mortimer, saying:
“If Bob wants to join next year, we’d sign him instantly.”
Alan Carr’s dramatic win reset expectations — and with the BBC chasing bigger personalities and fans hungry for betrayal on an unprecedented scale, Season 2 is already shaping up to be a monster.
