The jungle turned into absolute mayhem after a violent storm tore through the I’m A Celebrity camp, triggering an urgent evacuation and plunging production into disarray.
All 12 contestants — including Kelly Brook, Aitch and Angry Ginge — were rushed out of their living area and into the Bush Telegraph when torrential rain and hail hammered down on the site in New South Wales.
What was meant to be a normal filming day quickly spiralled into one of the most disruptive weather events of the series so far.
Filming halted for hours as storm hits camp
ITV bosses were forced to halt filming for nearly three hours, with crew members struggling to keep equipment and set structures from being destroyed in the sudden downpour.
More than 50mm of rain fell in just two hours, leaving the camp soaked, muddy and almost unrecognisable.
After the storm eased, campmates were seen hanging drenched bedding and clothes around the fire in an attempt to dry them before nightfall.
A production insider confirmed:
“The entire camp was saturated. Safety procedures were activated immediately, and we evacuated everyone until conditions stabilised.”
New threat: Blood-hungry leeches invading the camp
The aftermath of the monsoon-like weather brought an unpleasant side effect — leeches.
When the ground floods, leeches creep out of the undergrowth and search for warm bodies to latch onto.
Veterans of the show know this nightmare all too well, with several ex-campmates previously sharing horror stories about waking up with blood-soaked clothing.
Producers have warned that streams around the site can rise rapidly, turning calm trickles into dangerous torrents in minutes.
A history of weather disasters
This isn’t the first time the series has been interrupted by extreme conditions.
Last year’s edition was labelled the “wettest season ever” after roads flooded, parts of the set were destroyed, and multiple trials were delayed.
In one 24-hour period, more than 114mm of rain fell — nearly drowning key filming areas.
McFly star Danny Jones, who won the 2024 series, once described the storm evacuations as:
“One of the toughest nights we had — cramped, boiling-hot, and constantly checking for leeches.”
Stars left shaken but safe
After the storm passed, the cast attempted to return to normality — though Kelly Brook was spotted shielding herself from the final drops, and several campmates appeared visibly rattled by the ordeal.
Despite the chaos, production has confirmed that filming is back on schedule, and tonight’s Bushtucker Trial will go ahead.
But with more storms forecast for the week, viewers may be seeing more emergency dashes to the Bush Telegraph before the season ends.
