Stephen Mulhern Rakes In £4M Profit Despite Butlin’s Exit — And His TV Empire Is Still Growing
Stephen Mulhern may have lost his £1 million Butlin’s contract earlier this year, but his bank balance is doing anything but suffering.
Newly filed accounts reveal that the Catchphrase favourite pulled in an incredible £5.5 million through his company, Blue Productions Ltd — leaving an estimated £4 million profit after tax.
Butlin’s Deal Ends — But His Star Power Doesn’t
Back in June, The Sun revealed that Stephen’s three-year partnership with Butlin’s — where he entertained crowds in Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness — would not be renewed. His final shows wrapped in August.
A source at the time said:
“Stephen has always been a huge hit with families. He started as a Redcoat and never lost that magic.”
A Tough Year Behind the Scenes
The end of the contract followed a difficult period for Stephen. He collapsed unexpectedly in a Pizza Express late last year, and was deeply affected by the death of his father Christopher — the man who first taught him magic as a child.
ITV also confirmed that Dancing On Ice, which Stephen co-hosted with Holly Willoughby, would not return for 2025.
Another show, In For A Penny, was quietly shelved after six series.
But the TV King Isn’t Going Anywhere
Despite setbacks, Stephen remains one of the busiest faces on UK television. New episodes of Deal or No Deal are airing now, while Celebrity Catchphrase and You Bet! both return with Christmas specials.
His hugely popular children’s books also continue to boost his earnings.
A New Adventure With Ant & Dec
Fans will soon see a completely different side of Stephen in Accidental Tourist, his new project with Ant and Dec.
The Geordie duo are set to push him far outside his comfort zone as they send him on wild challenges across Asia.
