Davina McCall has shared a deeply personal tribute to her new husband, Michael Douglas, just days after confirming the couple have quietly tied the knot.
After more than six years together, Davina and Michael exchanged vows earlier this week in an intimate ceremony attended by close family and friends. True to form, the pair chose to keep the moment low-key and private — focusing on meaning rather than spectacle.
Shortly after the wedding, Davina returned to Instagram to reshare a touching moment from the 2024 National Television Awards, where she publicly thanked Michael during her acceptance speech for the Special Recognition Award.
Standing on stage that night, she joked about his famous name — clarifying that she meant “the younger Michael Douglas” — before turning serious as she spoke about the man beside her.
“I love being on this journey with you,” she said at the time. “You make me a better person, and you make me so happy. Thank you.”
Michael was visibly emotional in the audience as she spoke, wiping away tears as Davina paid tribute to the support he has given her throughout their relationship.
Friends have since revealed that the couple’s wedding was deliberately understated. They chose a small venue close to home and invited only around ten of their nearest and dearest — creating a ceremony that reflected exactly who they are.
One source described the day as “perfect,” adding that everyone in attendance held a deeply meaningful place in their lives.
The timing of the wedding, friends say, was shaped by recent events. Davina has faced a challenging year health-wise, and the couple felt it was simply the right moment to formalise their commitment rather than wait.
The very next day, they returned to everyday life — attending a friend’s wedding as guests. It marked their first public outing as a married couple, with Davina quietly showing off her wedding ring. Those close to them say the simplicity of the weekend made it all the more special.
Their joyful news comes against the backdrop of serious health battles for Davina. In November, she revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer after discovering a small lump — something she caught early after being prompted by a breast-checking campaign on Lorraine.
She later reassured fans that the cancer had been removed and had not spread, explaining she was sharing her experience in the hope it might encourage others to be vigilant.
Davina is due to undergo a short course of radiotherapy to ensure the cancer is fully treated. The diagnosis followed another major health scare just a year earlier, when she underwent a six-hour brain operation after doctors discovered a rare but benign tumour during a routine scan.
Through it all, those close to Davina say Michael has been a constant source of strength.
Their wedding, quiet and heartfelt, was not about headlines or celebration — but about choosing each other, formally and deliberately, after a period that reminded them how fragile life can be.
And for Davina, the moment she shared online said it all: gratitude, love, and a future she’s embracing with both courage and joy.
