Aston Merrygold Shares Emotional Update From Hospital After Undergoing Surgery — and Thanks Fans for Their “Unbelievable Support”

JLS star Aston Merrygold has given fans a heartfelt update after undergoing surgery for what he described as a “nasty” and unexpectedly painful injury.

The 37-year-old singer, who has been performing with the chart-topping boyband since 2007, shared a series of photos from his hospital bed — including sweet moments with his wife Sarah-Louise Richards and their three children — reassuring fans that the operation was a success.

Done, done & done! Thanks for all the love and support… everything went to plan in surgery, thankfully,” Aston wrote, praising the doctors and nurses who looked after him.
He joked that recovery officially begins now that he’s “back home with my favourites.”

In the photos, Aston appears upbeat, giving two thumbs up while hooked up to medical monitors, showcasing the same positivity that has defined much of his career. Another photo shows Sarah-Louise leaning in for a loving selfie, while a third captures their children cuddled beside him on the hospital bed.

The surgery follows weeks of pain after Aston suffered an injury that put him in an ankle boot and on crutches. At the time, he admitted he tried to push through for as long as he could before being told that surgery was unavoidable.

Sarah-Louise shared her own emotional message, calling her husband a “warrior,” praising his determination through both physical and mental challenges.
The road to recovery is longer than we hoped, but we’ve got you, and we’ll support you every step of the way,” she wrote.

Fans and friends flooded his comments with support, including fellow JLS member Marvin Humes, who said he was “over the moon everything went well,” while Rochelle Humes posted prayer emojis, and Example added raised-hands of celebration.

Aston rose to fame on The X Factor UK in 2008 before JLS went on to score multiple No.1 singles, sell out arenas, and cement themselves as one of the UK’s most beloved pop groups. Although their journey included a 2013 split, the band reunited stronger than ever with major tours in 2021 and 2023.

As Aston begins his recovery, fans are celebrating not only his resilience — but the joy of seeing their favourite performer surrounded by the people who matter most.
