Peter Kay made one of his rare television appearances on Wednesday evening, stepping onto The One Show to reveal brand new tour dates — and a huge charitable gesture that instantly moved viewers.

The 52-year-old comedian announced the latest leg of his Better Late Than Never tour, which launches in December and wraps up at Manchester’s AO Arena in August next year.

He then confirmed that 100% of the profits from these upcoming shows will be divided among 12 cancer charities, turning the entire tour into a massive fundraising mission.

Speaking with hosts Lauren Laverne and Vernon Kay, the Bolton-born comic said:
“I’ve done this tour now and I’m announcing the last load of shows — and all the profits are going to 12 charities.”

The chosen organisations include:
Children With Cancer UK, Teenage Cancer Trust, Kidney Cancer UK, Blood Cancer UK, Bowel Cancer UK, Prostate Cancer UK, DKMS UK, Ovarian Cancer Action, Pancreatic Cancer UK, Anthony Nolan, The Brain Tumour Charity, and Breast Cancer UK.

Peter added:
“Unfortunately everyone knows someone affected on that list. I hope people support it — that’s why I’m here.”

“You don’t even have to like me to come…”

The comedian joked that fans don’t need to be devoted followers to attend the shows:
“It goes beyond that — it’s about supporting these charities.”

He noted that tickets go on sale Sunday at 10am, adding they would make “a good Christmas present.”

Peter is set to perform more than 20 arena dates, covering Newcastle, Nottingham, Glasgow, Dublin, Birmingham, Belfast, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, and London.

Rachel Calderon, deputy director of fundraising at Blood Cancer UK, called the announcement a “milestone” moment for the community.

The Brain Tumour Charity’s CEO, Dr Michele Afif, also expressed gratitude, saying Peter’s support would be “instrumental” in achieving vital change.

Joined by Rebel Wilson — and a glimpse into comedy beginnings

On the show, Peter was joined by Rebel Wilson, who looked striking in a plunging purple velvet suit as she reflected on her early days in stand-up.

She recalled performing alongside a “young Alan Carr” two decades ago, admitting:
“I was terrified someone would throw a beer bottle at my head — you’ve got to be brave.”

Actor Kiefer Sutherland also appeared on the sofa but confessed he could never attempt stand-up.

A long history of charity — and a tribute to a lost fan

This isn’t the first time Peter has used his platform for cancer charities. In 2023, he donated a portion of ticket sales from his Manchester Apollo show.

He also paid emotional tribute to superfan Laura Nuttall, who died at 23 after a long battle with Glioblastoma. Peter came out of retirement in 2021 to host two live Q&A shows in her honour, raising money for her treatment in Germany.

Laura was diagnosed with eight brain tumours and underwent surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, completing a bucket list that included graduating and presenting the BBC weather.

After her passing, her mother wrote:
“She was fierce and tenacious to the end… it was the honour of my life to be her mum.”

Peter Kay’s own health scare revealed in new book

Peter also recently disclosed in Peter Kay’s Diary that he underwent emergency surgery for a giant kidney stone, requiring a stent after the procedure caused “major trauma” to his urethra.

He described the incident as terrifying, admitting his “world collapsed” when he realised the nature of the operation — which involved a laser camera inserted through a very unexpected location.

Despite his embarrassment, the procedure went ahead, with his anaesthetist even asking for a selfie before he was put under.

A rare appearance — and a powerful message

Peter Kay’s television appearance may have been brief, but its impact was unmistakable: a major comedic comeback, a nationwide tour, and a sweeping charitable pledge that touched households across the country.
