Rylan Clark’s mum, Linda Clark, has been rushed to hospital following a shocking accident outside her home that left her needing urgent medical treatment.
The Celebrity Gogglebox star was putting the rubbish out when she mistakenly stepped onto ice, thinking it was water — and suddenly went flying. The heavy fall resulted in Linda fracturing her shoulder, sending her straight to A&E.
She shared the frightening ordeal while appearing on her son’s BBC Radio 2 show, revealing just how painful the incident had been.
“I just went flying and I hurt my arm again,” Linda told listeners on Saturday, adding that her arm was now “black” with bruising and “so sore” she could barely move it.
Rylan then opened up about the moment he first heard the news, admitting the phone call left him shaken.
“Well that was a lovely phone call I got that morning — you on your way to the hospital,” he said, before adding with concern: “But it could’ve been worse, it could’ve been your arm and your leg like we’ve had before.”
He went on to plead with his mum to slow down, urging her: “Be careful. I need you to not make it any worse.”
The X Factor favourite also thanked fans for the flood of supportive messages they had sent in.
“So many of you getting in touch, thank you — she is alright by the way,” he reassured listeners. “She’s fractured her shoulder. I just can’t help her, you know what she’s like, always rushing around doing stuff.”
He later stressed that the fall had simply been an unfortunate accident. “In all fairness, it was an accident — she just slipped on some ice.”
It is not the first time Linda has ended up in hospital recently, having also been taken to an emergency ward back in July.
Rylan later confirmed the situation on Instagram, writing: “Mummy Linda isn’t well sadly so I won’t be hosting the show tomorrow. Thank you to the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Will keep you updated as she’s on the mend. She’s a trooper.”
True to his word, he later shared another update: “She’s all good. Hoping she will be home for her birthday. She’s now worried about the wheelie bins going out again.”
Thankfully, Linda recovered enough to spend her birthday at home surrounded by family.
This latest scare is not the first serious fall Linda has suffered. In 2022 she was hospitalised while on holiday in Marbella after another nasty accident, which required surgery.
At the time, Rylan explained: “So unfortunately I took my mum away on her first holiday in a good few years and sadly she’s had quite a bad fall, resulting in her having to have surgery out here. She’s not in the best health with her other conditions and this has made it more complicated.”
However, he later confirmed that she had bounced back, telling The Sun: “My mum is doing really, really well… she’s stumbling about Lakeside, so she’s very much back to normal.”
Linda was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 30 — a chronic condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system. Over the years, she has undergone three major bowel operations and now relies on daily medication to manage her health.
Despite everything, those close to her say Linda remains determined, strong — and very much a fighter.
