It turns out Al Roker wasn’t the only one feeling under the weather this festive season — his entire family was right there with him.
In an Instagram carousel shared on December 28, the TODAY star’s 27-year-old daughter Leila Roker gave fans a candid look at what Christmas really looked like for America’s favourite weatherman and his loved ones. Her verdict? The family had what she called a “very sick Christmas”… but somehow, it still felt magical. 
“Like what seems like half of the internet, we also had a very sick Christmas,” Leila wrote, revealing that the usual Christmas morning champagne had been swapped for apple cider vinegar tea and cold medicine between cookies. Instead of bustling celebrations, there were coughs, sneezes and plenty of tissues — yet in between, puzzles were solved, presents were opened, laughter echoed around the house and traditional holiday movies played in the background. 
“Not the Christmas we expected but a magical one nonetheless,” she concluded.
Al, 71, was quick to share his own family moment the same day, posting a smiling snap with Leila and telling fans that having her home was the perfect present.
“Perfect Christmas present having @leilaroker home for the holidays,” he wrote. 
But that wasn’t the only festive update from the beloved broadcaster. On December 26, Roker had already shared a glimpse of Christmas morning, clearly overjoyed as he spent time with his granddaughter Sky. The heart-melting photo of Al with Sky and wife Deborah Roberts had fans swooning — proof that even a flu-ridden holiday couldn’t dampen his “proud grandpa” glow.
Ever since Sky was born, Roker has been proudly embracing his grandfather role, and followers were thrilled to see more sweet photos and videos of the pair together. 
Looking ahead, fans will be seeing plenty more of Roker as he’s set to appear on Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager’s New Year’s Eve special, A Toast to 2025!, airing December 31 at 10:30 p.m. ET. The two-hour primetime show promises a star-studded celebration reflecting on the biggest moments of the year — and Roker is just one of over 40 celebrity guests helping to welcome 2026.
With Hoda and Jenna at the helm, viewers can expect heartfelt moments, plenty of laughs, and maybe even a few surprises as the countdown begins.
