Davina McCall quietly tied the knot with hairdresser Michael Douglas last week, sealing their relationship in a low-key London ceremony just two months after their surprise engagement in Ibiza.
The TV presenter, 58, has since praised her “lovely” new husband, 49, crediting him with standing firmly by her side during one of the most challenging periods of her life — including surgery to remove a benign brain tumour and her recent breast cancer diagnosis.
But while the wedding itself was intimate and celebratory, the roots of their romance stretch back decades — and were not without emotional fallout.
Davina and Michael first crossed paths during her long reign as the face of Big Brother, which she presented from 2000 to 2010. At the time, Michael worked behind the scenes as her hairstylist, and the pair formed a close professional friendship.
Years later, that bond deepened.
Their relationship officially turned romantic in the summer of 2019, two years after Davina’s split from her former husband Matthew Robertson. The couple went public shortly afterwards — a revelation that reportedly left Michael’s ex-wife, Tracey, devastated.
Michael shares two sons with Tracey, and sources claimed she was blindsided when news of the romance emerged.
A source told The Sun at the time: “Davina had met their children and was the last person Tracey ever imagined Michael would end up with.”
“To find out they were dating — and openly showing off their relationship — was an absolutely devastating blow,” the source added. “She’s been crying a lot and trying to process it.”
Despite their separation the year before, Michael and Tracey were said to have remained on civil terms, with the hairdresser continuing to live nearby to stay closely involved in their sons’ lives.
The Daily Mail contacted representatives for both Davina and Michael for comment at the time.
Michael, originally from Leyland in northwest Lancashire, is a well-established celebrity hairstylist who has spent more than 21 years in the beauty industry. He began his career as a junior at Wella’s London studio before rising through the ranks.
Over the years, he has styled the hair of some of the world’s biggest stars, including Kate Moss, Johnny Depp and Sienna Miller, and has regularly appeared on television programmes such as Good Morning Britain, The One Show and This Morning.
He is also the founder of hair styling brand mdlondon, which aims to “demystify” professional hair styling and strip back what he calls the industry’s “smoke and mirrors.”
Davina publicly displayed her wedding ring for the first time during her appearance on Stand Up To Cancer 2025, quietly confirming the marriage.
Details of the ceremony later emerged, revealing the couple wed in a small London celebration attended by “everyone who is special in their lives.”
Davina opted against a traditional bridal gown, instead wearing a striking white fur-look coat paired with a lace hat, tights and ankle-strap heels. Michael chose a bold bright blue suit.
Photographs captured the newlyweds leaving Marylebone Town Hall, smiling and posing as husband and wife.
Their families were closely involved in the day, with Davina’s daughter Tilly, 21, sharing a playful TikTok video ahead of the ceremony, captioned: “Be prepared to be SICK of me.”
Shortly after the wedding, Michael returned straight back to work. In an Instagram Live filmed from a Cambridge hotel, he joked about the “terrible” room he was staying in while on a styling job.
Laughing, he told followers: “I’ve just done Miranda Hart’s hair for The One Show — she was lovely — and now I’m in this hotel… I don’t know who designs these places!”
