AngryGinge, the 24-year-old social media star, stunned fans by being crowned King of the Jungle, despite not being a household name before his appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!. However, the biggest revelation of all? He didn’t join the ITV show for the publicity or a paycheck – it was all about making his mother, Michelle, proud.

It has now come to light that Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, sacrificed a huge amount of income by taking a five-week break from his lucrative live-streaming career and missing out on Christmas brand deals, which could have earned him hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Opening up about the decision, he told The Daily Mail: “I remember my mum saying years ago one of her main goals was to go to Australia, so I managed to get her a free holiday there. I didn’t do it for publicity. I just did it because I had the opportunity to live out a dream I had as an 8-year-old and to make my mum proud.”

Ginge grew up in a single-parent household in Salford, with his father absent and Michelle raising both him and his sister, Tasha, on a modest £12,500 a year while juggling three jobs. It was clear that Ginge’s journey was never about fame or fortune, but fulfilling a promise to the woman who gave him everything despite the odds.
During his I’m A Celeb stint, Ginge was not only the underdog but also a fan favorite, securing 5 million loyal followers from his successful Twitch streaming account. However, the show also came at a cost. The star missed out on all the big brand deals leading up to Christmas and a month of streaming, a blow that many might have found hard to recover from.
But it seems that the real victory for Ginge was never about the money. It was about showing his mum how much he appreciated everything she did for him. “I wanted my mum to know how well she raised us and how much I appreciate everything she did, from being a single parent and working multiple jobs,” he said. “Anything I can do to make her proud is the best feeling in the world.”
In the emotional aftermath of the show, a close source revealed, “Ginge lost out on hundreds of thousands of pounds during his time on the show, but he didn’t do it for himself. He did it to make his mum proud. He missed out on the brand deals and streaming opportunities during the busy Christmas period, but it was all worth it.”
Ginge’s time on the show also showcased his roots and his relationship with his family. His mum Michelle, along with his sister Tasha, delighted audiences when they made a surprise appearance in the Jungle, creating one of the most heartwarming moments of the season.
The show attracted 2.5 million viewers, making Ginge ITV’s Gen Z star for the year, and marking a successful year for the show, its most-watched since the 2022 World Cup.
Though Ginge’s time in the jungle was filled with emotional moments, it almost came to an early end. He revealed that he nearly quit the show after 10 days, having struggled with the challenges of the camp. “I was sitting there thinking, ‘I know what this experience is like, and I’ve got two more weeks. Should I go or should I stay?’ But I just powered through it and made it to the end,” he said.
What’s next for the rising star? Ginge plans to return to his streaming career but is reportedly eyeing a shift into mainstream entertainment in the near future. While fans are eager to see what’s next for him, Ginge remains grounded, not sure what the future holds but feeling proud of his journey so far.
“I don’t know what comes next,” he admitted, “But I’m over the moon I did it. If I can be myself like this on screen, maybe that’s the direction I go now. It feels like a new chapter.”
For now, Ginge remains focused on his roots, his family, and the love that got him through. “I’ve missed a lot of things, and I don’t want to miss them anymore,” he shared. “This whole journey has changed me. I realized life doesn’t need to be at a million miles per hour.”
As for the future, Ginge is ready for whatever comes his way, and fans can’t wait to see how this humble star’s journey continues to unfold.
